Kindy saver

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Please note that the new Kindergarten Funding Scheme subsidies will only come into effect from 1 January 2023. Refer to Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme for information about the current funding arrangements.

Kindy saver can be used to work out how much Queensland Government kindy funding a service provider will receive from 2023 to support the delivery on an approved kindergarten program and reduce out-of-pocket costs for families. Parents/carers are encouraged to confirm this amount and the actual fees with their chosen kindy provider.

Kindy saver requires you to answer up to four brief questions.

Step 1: Are you a parent/carer or a kindergarten provider?

Step 2: Do you want to calculate the subsidy for sessional kindy or kindy in a long day care?

Sessional kindy
Approved sessional kindergartens run during school term and school hours, for 40 weeks a year. They provide kindergarten without extended hours of care.

Long day care
Approved long day care services providing kindergarten usually operate at least 10 hours a day, Monday to Friday, for at least 48 weeks a year. They provide a kindergarten program and extended hours of care. The Australian Government Child Care Subsidy may help reduce your fees.

Step 3: Kindy Plus eligibility

Do one or more of the following apply to you or yourthe parent/carer or the child who will be attending kindy?

  • hold a current Australian Government Health Care Card (HCC)
  • hold a current Australian Government Pensioner Concession Card (automatic HCC entitlements)
  • hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card or White Card
  • have formal communication, such as a letter, from the relevant agency stating the intent to issue a Health Care Card
  • have evidence of formal foster or kinship care arrangements
  • are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • have three or more children, of the same age, enrolled in the same year
  • have a child who is identified as living in a formal child protection out-of-home-care arrangement
  • are a family and child who have entered Australia under the Australian Government’s Refugee and Humanitarian Program, or is in the process of seeking asylum and holds a temporary visa.


You are eligible for a kindy subsidy!

The Queensland Government may make your kindy free! Please confirm this with your chosen kindergarten provider.

The Queensland Government may reduce your annual fees by up to for the 15 hours per week Kindy program. Your out of pocket costs will also depend on your eligibility for Child Care Subsidy. Please confirm this with your chosen kindergarten provider.
